Deleting Assets

Top  Previous  Next

NOTE: Permanently deleting an asset from the Prime database will also remove any inspection reports or other documentation associated with that asset.

LMP recommends that deletion should only be applied to those assets which are no longer owned.  If an asset is no longer in use, but retained, it is recommended that the asset should either be moved to the "Warehouse" location within Prime or marked as Excluded.  See "Scrapped or Moth-balled assets" for more information.

The deletion of an asset is a staged process.  An asset is first marked for deletion (when an asset is only marked for deletion it may be re-instated) before being finally removed from the database.

To mark an asset for deletion:

1.Highlight the appropriate schedule from the Site List screen, and select "Schedule Schedule For" from the Side Bar.
2.Toggle Edit Mode to ON.
3.Either:
click on the item to be deleted and select the Delete item icon (Delete Item) from the Tool Bar, or
right-click on the required item and select "Delete item Delete Item" from the subsequent menu.

(HINT: If the Delete Item icon is greyed-out, then either:

Edit Mode has not been selected, or
the login account in use does not have the authority to delete an asset).
4.A dialog box, containing confirmation details of the asset to be deleted, will open.  Click Yes to confirm, or No to cancel the deletion.

Assets marked for deletion will still appear on the Schedule but will be greyed-out.  All the Side Bar options for that asset will state "Item Deleted".

(NOTE: Attempting to navigate away from the Schedule in which the asset marked for deletion is held without firstly reinstating or permanently deleting the asset will cause a warning message to display).

To reinstate an asset marked for deletion:

NOTE: The option to reinstate an asset is only available up until the point a save is made.  It is impossible to navigate away from the schedule in which the asset is held without either saving or cancelling the deletion.

1.Click the Undo icon (Undo Modifications).
2.Confirm that the changes are to be undone. (NOTE:  Agreeing to undo changes will not just reinstate the asset but will revert the database back to the point at which a save was last made).

To permanently remove an asset from the database:

Either:

click the Save icon (Save), or
toggle Edit Mode to OFF and confirm that the changes are to be saved.
