Drawings may be attached to assets within Prime. Although drawings are usually attached to individual assets via the "Documents For" option on the Side Bar, a Drawing Line may be included within a schedule to contain a drawing which has relevance for all assets within a schedule.
Inserting a Drawing Line
| 1. | Highlight the appropriate Schedule from the Site List screen and select " Schedule For" from the Side Bar. |
| 2. | Toggle Edit Mode to ON. |
| 3. | Click on the asset above which the Drawing Line is to be placed, and insert a new item. Either: |
| • | click on the icon (Insert Item) from the Tool Bar, or |
| • | right-click in the Data area and select " Insert Item" from the subsequent menu. |
(HINT: If the Insert Item icon is greyed-out, then either:
| • | Edit Mode has not been selected, or |
| • | the login account in use does not have the authority to insert an item). |
| 4. | Change the new line to a Drawing Line. Either: |
| • | select the appropriate item, right-click and select " Convert to Drawing Line" from the subsequent menu, or |
| • | ensure the new (blank) line is highlighted and click the icon (Convert to Drawing Line) from the Tool Bar. |
| 5. | In the "Warning" dialog box, select Yes to convert the asset to a Drawing Line, or No to abandon the conversion. |
| 6. | Add a Drawing Reference in the Drawing Ref. field. (NOTE: This Drawing Reference must match exactly the Document Description input in step vii below). |
| 7. | Click the icon to save the changes to the database. |
| 8. | Now attach the drawing: |
| i. | Ensure that the drawing line is highlighted and select " Documents For" from the Side Bar. |
| ii. | Move to the "Other Documents" tab. |
| iii. | Toggle Edit Mode to ON. |
| iv. | Right-click in the Data Area and select " Add Document" from the subsequent menu. |
| v. | Navigate to, and select the required drawing. |
| vii. | Complete the subsequent Document Details form inputting the required Drawing Reference into the "Document Description" field. (NOTE: The Drawing Reference must match exactly that entered in step 6 above): |
Select whether to save the drawing in the Prime database (In database) or as a live link (As link) into the local computer. (NOTE: Saving the file as a link means that any changes made to the original drawing will be reflected in the document displayed by Prime).
| viii. | Click OK to save the drawing. |
| 9. | Re-select " Schedule For" from the Side Bar. |
| 10. | Double-click on the Drawing Reference to view the attached drawing. |
Converting an existing asset to a Drawing Line
(NOTE: Converting an asset to a Drawing Line will clear all the fields except for the Drawing Reference. Once changes are saved to the database it will be impossible to re-instate overwritten data).
| 1. | Highlight the appropriate schedule from the Site List screen and select " Schedule For" from the Side Bar. |
| 2. | Toggle Edit Mode to ON. |
| 3. | Click on the asset which is to be converted to a Drawing Line. |
| 4. | Change the asset to a Drawing Line. Either: |
| • | right-click on the appropriate item and select " Convert to Drawing Line" from the subsequent menu, or |
| • | ensure the appropriate line is highlighted and select the icon (Convert to Drawing Line) from the Tool Bar. |
| 5. | In the "Warning" dialog box, select Yes to convert the asset to a Drawing Line, or No to abandon the conversion. |
| 6. | Amend the Drawing Reference field if required. |
| 7. | Click the icon to save the changes to the database. |
| 8. | Now attach the drawing: |
| i. | Ensure that the drawing line is highlighted and select " Documents For" from the Side Bar. |
| ii. | Move to the "Other Documents" tab. |
| iii. | Toggle Edit Mode to ON. |
| iv. | Right-click in the Data Area and select " Add Document" from the subsequent menu. |
| v. | Navigate to, and select the required drawing. |
| vii. | Complete the subsequent Document Details form inputting the required Drawing Reference into the "Document Description" field. (NOTE: The Drawing Reference must match exactly that entered in step 6 above): |

Reverting a Drawing Line to a Normal Asset Line
| 1. | Select the required Drawing Line. |
| 2. | Toggle Edit Mode to ON. |
| • | right-click on the appropriate item and select " Convert to Normal Line" from the subsequent menu, or |
| • | ensure the appropriate line is highlighted and select the icon (Convert to Normal Line) from the Tool Bar. |
| 4. | In the "Confirm" dialog box, select Yes to convert the Drawing Line to Normal, or No to abandon the conversion. |
| 5. | Click the icon to save the changes. |
